OKX launches AI-powered OnchainOS upgrade, enabling autonomous agents to trade, manage wallets, and execute gas-free payments across 60+ blockchains.
OKX has launched a major AI upgrade to its OnchainOS platform. The update allows AI agents to operate directly on blockchain networks. Released on March 3, 2026, the upgrade provides autonomous execution in over 60 chains. Therefore, AI agents can now trade, manage wallets, and process payments themselves.
OKX Launches AI Layer to Power Autonomous On-Chain Agents
OKX launched a native Artificial Intelligence layer in OnchainOS. The platform currently supports full wallet management and decentralized exchange trading for AI agents. In addition, it gives access to live on-chain market data. As a result, developers are able to build once and deploy across 60+ blockchain networks.

In the past, human users verified all transactions by hand. However, the new system eliminates that barrier. AI agents are now able to automatically perform high-level instructions. For example, an agent can exchange ETH for USDC if the price is below a certain level.

The platform takes care of estimating the gas and routing the liquidity internally. In addition, it takes care of token approvals without manual input. Consequently, transactions are able to move at machine speed. This change may bring some efficiency across the on-chain markets.
OnchainOS also brings wallet infrastructure and liquidity tools in under one roof. Therefore, AI agents have access to unified trading and payment systems. The infrastructure supports operations at over 500 decentralized exchanges. This broad coverage greatly extends cross-chain capabilities.
Furthermore, the system works with approximately 1.2 billion API calls per day. It also permits almost $300 million in daily trading volume. These numbers point to a reliable high-frequency automated operation. As such, AI agents can run on stable infrastructure.
AI Agents Gain Gas-Free Payments and Advanced Developer Tools
Another major feature is gas-free payments. The upgrade is done using the x402 protocol on OKX’s X Layer. Therefore, AI agents can make payments and pay off with no gas fees. This mechanism lowers the cost of transactions and makes automation easier.
Also OKX provides developer toolkits for easy integration. Natural language AI Skills can be used by developers to program agents easily. The platform also offers functionality with the use of the Availability of the Rest APIs and Model Context Protocol integrations. Such tools provide support for AI coding assistants like Claude Code and Cursor.
Due to the increasing activity of AI agents as participants in the market, the demand for infrastructure is increasing. For this reason, OKX wants to place itself at the heart of this agent economy. The company refers to this model as the “agentic economy.” In this system software agents trade and manage assets autonomously.
Importantly, AI agents have the ability to analyze the actual data in real-time before making a decision. They can modify strategies immediately according to market changes. Therefore, reaction times are much better when compared to manual trading.
Overall, the OnchainOS upgrade is a strategic move for OKX. The platform is now supporting autonomous AI operations across blockchain ecosystems. By supporting cross-chain execution and gas-free payments, OKX enhances its role of infrastructure. Consequently, it is possible that AI agents could become common participants in decentralized finance markets in the near future.
